Welcome to the new blog! One of the best ways to appreciate the magical legacy of Austin music is to go out and experience it live. So, I dedicate this inaugural blog piece to a wonderful friend and very special talent, Sarah Sharp. If you would like to enjoy an enchanted evening of jazz vocals, both traditional and original, as well as beautiful pop ballads and fun upbeat songs, you need to go see Sarah. You can catch her early show every Tuesday at the Elephant Room at 315 Congress, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
Sarah Sharp is the former vocalist for the Jitterbug Vipers, when they won several Austin Chronicle Music Awards. She performed with them for several years with the iconic Slim Richey on jazz guitar. These days you can see Sarah with Mitch Watkins, a legendary jazz guitarist with many longtime roots in Austin.
Come Out and Celebrate Sarah’s Black Fret Award
On December 9th, Sarah performed before a packed house at the Paramount Theater. That night she was one of ten winners of the Annual Black Fret Awards, which included an $18,000 grant. The grant will be put to good use, as she is about to roll out several EP’s of new recordings in the coming months. Check out the pictures below. (I was never so proud of her)!
